Why I’m Building in Public

I created this website because I wanted a place where the different parts of my work could come together. Business, technology, education, and personal writing each take up space in my life. Keeping a record helps me see how they connect.

The distance between an idea and everyday use

The part I want to document is the distance between an idea and something that holds up in everyday use. An idea can feel clear in a conversation. Putting it into practice brings out the missing details: the information I didn't have, the assumption I didn't notice, or the extra work required to keep it running.

That process deserves a place here, alongside anything that goes well. A useful project update should tell a reader what I tried, what I can demonstrate, and what remains uncertain. If I change my mind, I want the record to show why.

Checking the work

AI is part of this work. It can help me explore possibilities, organize material, and develop software. Its involvement also makes careful checking necessary. A fluent explanation still needs evidence. A working demonstration still needs testing. I remain responsible for what I publish under my name.

What I choose to share

Building in public doesn't mean sharing every file or every detail. Customer information stays private. Unpublished research and potentially protectable work need review before disclosure. I can explain a question and the lessons around it without publishing the mechanisms behind a project.

My goal is a record that becomes more useful over time. If someone follows an idea from its first question through later revisions, they should be able to tell what changed and what supported that change. That is the kind of transparency I want to practice here.
